The drive up Woodland Boulevard, through downtown Deland and the historic Stetson University campus, is breathtaking. After growing up in the northeast (literally bursting with history), I’m so thankful to live within a few minutes of this charming piece of Florida’s past!
Flagler Hall was the backdrop for the first half of this session. I love the Spanish architecture of the building, and a huge mossy oak tree beautifully framed the corner of the scene. The sun created a perfect, golden backlight as we walked up Minnesota Avenue to finish our session by the old college gymnasium.
When I first mentioned this location to my client, Sydney, I used the words “not obvious.” The west side of Stetson is not an obvious portrait session choice, BUT the sun sets perfectly behind the Cummings gymnasium gate…👌🏻 BONUS TIP: light matters as much, if not MORE than the background/location. I was super excited when she choose this “not obvious” place for their session!
Austin and Sydney are two incredible people with a deep commitment to sharing the truth of God’s Word. Their sweet little kiddos made this session so fun and kept us laughing. It was a privilege to spend the evening with this special family!
